Hello and welcome once again to all the latest news and goings on at Cleobury Mortimer Golf. We hope you have managed to get a game in with the weather now starting to improve and long may it continue. It has been great to see some familiar faces back up and playing. Hopefully we'll see a few more of you over the next few weeks in the lead up to warmer and brighter weather. Below is a picture that was taken recently, hopefully this will give you the appetite to dust off the clubs and come up for a game if you haven't for while.
This past week has seen Amy, Matt and I conduct several club MOTs for golfers who are keen to make sure they are fully prepared for the season ahead. From loft and lie checks and adjustments to re-spiking and re- gripping we offer a vast amount of services to make sure you are all set when you step out to play.
Pictured above is Paul Harrison and I, Paul has recently joined us at CMGC after to relocating to the area and has had his clubs re-gripped with the new Golf Pride CP2 Wraps. Mens Double Roll Up
It was very much business as normal for Cleobury Mortimer Golf Club with some much improved weather the members were back in force to contest the double roll up.
This competition allows players to play on either day with the top three scores over all taking the prizes. Day one saw some great scores posted by Bob Lucas, Arnold Edmunds and Andy Thomas. The Saturday however belonged to Ross Moorecroft who shot 41 points despite picking up zero on the last hole.
Ross had this to say 'It was a very consistent round today, the last hole was playing very tough into wind and I am a little gutted as I was on track for my best ever round. I must also mention the Superstroke putter grip Dave fitted for me made a huge difference my confidence has gone through the roof with it. If your tempted by one, go for it you wont regret it'.
Conditions on the Sunday were very similar to Saturday and Ash Cook certainly made the most of them. He like, Ross shot 41 points but a point on the last hole gave him a superior back count to take second place outright.
The weekend however belonged to Lewis Hodges who once again tore the course apart with a stunning 44 points.
Director of golf Dave Pain had this to say on Lewis.
'Lewis had a quiet summer in 2015, it is great to see him working hard on his game over the winter and getting these kind of scores is no surprise. He is certainly a player to watch going into the season'.
Final standings:
1st - Lewis Hodges 44 points
2nd - Ash Cook - 41 points (count back)
3rd - Ross Moorecroft - 41 points

Easter Open
As mentioned a few weeks ago the Easter Open will soon be upon us and the competition is already filling up nicely with 25 teams already entered. We have just 9.00am and 9.08am left available in the morning with a few more tee times available in the afternoon between 12.15pm and 1.45pm, if you would like to enter please get your name down quickly to avoid missing out.
The Easter Open is open to Men, Ladies and Seniors and teams can be mixed and non mixed. Usual Texas Scramble rules will apply with a Minimum of four drives per person and 1/10 of the combined handicap. Handicap limits are 24 for Men and 36 for Ladies. The Easter Open is just £60 per team of four, this also includes a hot cross bun after nine holes, followed by sausage and mash when you finish.
The final countdown is on with two assignments due in less than 3 weeks covering sports science and custom fitting.
I've just submitted my 3rd assignment on Coaching which was great to do and I enhanced my knowledge on ball flight characteristics, Impact Factors and Pre Swing Principles as the assignment involved me analysing these factors on two golfers. Big thanks to Sara Pain and Gav Walters for their help with this.
I've had my grades back on my first too and I'm pleased to have gotten a Distinction and a Merit in them. Hopefully I keep the good work up.
