Hello members and friends of CMGC, what a difference a week makes. The club has been very busy with opens, matches and competitions now in full flow. We have had many visitors visiting the club and it is great to hear so many positive comments about the club and course. The green keepers have really transformed the course with the greens slick, fairways lush and tees cut. There really is nowhere better to be. I would say this is the best the course has ever looked for the time of year…. Check out the pictures below
The conclusion of The Masters was a joy to watch and I don't think anyone can say Bubba did not deserve his win. He was by far the most consistent player of the week and fully deserved his second green jacket. As with all tournaments we run and sweep and the results are below…..
Masters Results
1st - Bubba Watson - Bob Lucas
2nd - Jonas Blixt - Dean Carpenter
3rd - Jordan Speith - Deb Fearnley
4th. MA Jimenez - Nigel Williams
All prizes can be collected from the pro shop thanks to everyone that brought a square and sold it out.
Cleobury customer service recognition
We pride ourselves at CMGC on our customer service and the amount of repeat business we constantly generate. This however is not just because we are such nice people at CMGC! We have intensive staff training programs and have this evaluated by a company called 'the 59 club' they are a bench marking and customer service company specific for the golf industry. The 59 Club do mystery shop visits, phone reservations, membership sales and much more.
The last mystery shop visit we had was our best yet and put us fourth over all out of 96 other clubs. Some of the other 59 club clients who we are up against are Wentworth and the De Vere chains. George and his kitchen team performed the best with a massive 97% score some of the quotes
Not forgetting myself and Matt who was scored highly with 95% It is always helpful from a management point of view to have people visit CMGC who are completely neutral. It allows us to priorities areas that need improving but also reward departments and individuals who continue to perform at the highest level.
Below is a summary of the visit.
Did any particular member of staff excel? | Matt; because he went out of his way to sort out some winter wheels for my own trolley and fitted them without fuss or charge. Dave; because he was really helpful around the shop and sorting out which course we wished to play. George deserves special praise because he realised we might get back in for post-golf food after the kitchens had shut and offered to keep them open if he knew we would be returning and definitely wanting food. He did this not because we had been rumbled because I heard him asking everyone in the bar at breakfast the same question |
Was there any poor service that you felt was particularly worth mentioning? | none. All the staff were a credit to the club |
Did you feel generally welcome at the club based on interaction with people other than the staff already assessed in the score sheet e.g. club members, greenkeeping staff etc? | yes. Other members engaged in conversation and asked how our game had gone |
Did you enjoy the course and consider it to be good value for the green fee paid? | yes |
Did you consider the food and drink available to be good value for money? | Yes, the food George and his team produced was well presented, delicious and excellent value for money. Some of the best food we have ever found at a golf club'. |
Rest assured as a member of Cleobury or a visitor you are getting a fantastic experience that represents fantastic value for money… What more could you want!
It goes into such detail that you are evaluated if you have a smile on your face when greeted!

April Stableford.
Summer like conditions met the golfers of Cleobury for the April stableford. With the course transformed in a week the greens were slick, fairways lush and tees in prime positions. Dean Rogers and Andrew Johnson both shot 35 points, however with a superior back count Andrew picked up second place.
The day however belonged to Nick Webb who shot 37 points to win by two clear points. Nick is a very steady player off his handicap and is often seen on the practice area. It just goes to show what practicing and playing leads to….. BETTER SCORES!
1st - Nick Webb - Glenmuir jumper
2nd - Andrew Johnson - CMGC shirt
3rd - Dean Rogers - sleeve of Pro V1's

Cleobury Beer Festival Update.
The Cleobury beer and food festival held at CMGC is fast approaching, this was a project myself and Tom started after we left uni with the help of Aaron Booton. It is scary to think it is now into its 5th year. We are very proud of the event as it really draws the local community together and gets so many people up to CMGC that may have not seen our facility. The event has grown each year with over 500 people attending it last year, the local real ales and ciders, open mic music showcasing the local musical talent and of course locally sourced food make it a day for all the family. It would mean the world to me, Tom and Aaron to see as many CMGC members and friends here as possible to support an event we started from nothing.
Tickets are just £5 and this includes your first drink and commemorative pint class! Friday April 25th from 5pm Saturday April 26th from 12noon http://www.cleoburybeerfestival.bigcartel.com/
